A few photos...

A much needed hair wash after a raspberry jam incident

Well Nolan is growing by the day, not only in weight but growing up before our eyes. He is constantly into mischief and is now discovered whining. We are not sure if he enjoys the high pitched whine... or the reaction Keith and I give (a little giggle... it sounds quite funny). He scrunches his nose up and his eyes become little squints... He opens his mouth and shows off his gleaming teeth... and then the high pitched squeel begins.

Hmmm... parenthood.

We are concentrating this week on the flashcards- cow, horse, elephant, cat, dog and the color orange. So far Nolan can point to the cow and cat. We're unsure if 'rse' means horse. But we're working on it anyways.

Yummy- Nolan has a new love for red peppers

Nolan, you must walk before you run...

"Let me go daddy"...

Last night, Nolan pushed Keith's hands to the side, and without a breath... he took 6..no 8...no 10 steady steps towards mommy. Wow, he surprised both Keith and I. When he gets excited his body travels much faster than his legs... Practice, practice Nolan, you must walk before you can run.

Nolan's cold has improved over night. He still has a cough and a bit of a snotty nose, but he is on the mend again.

Last Thursday we had Nolan's Pediatrician appointment. He had gained his (2.5 pounds) back from the stomach flu, and then an additional 8 ounces- Impressive. That puts Nolan at just under 19 pounds. We can finally turn him in a front facing car seat when he hits 19 pounds. Nolan is getting taller by the month. He is now 29.5 inches long and his head is steadily growing (full of brains- of course!). I think that's where he carries all his weight.

Nolan and I just got back from a trip to BC to see the udder grandparents. We had a wonderful trip. It was so nice to be back at 'home'. The weather couldn't have been better, and the skiing was fabulous as always. On Friday, we took turns looking after Nolan, and on Saturday he spent the day playing in the daycare so we could all ski together. Sunday was fun; Mom, Nolan and I went swimming and later we all enjoyed 'Grammys' surprise BD party. Uncle Steve and Auntie Claire were also there to partake in the festivities.

And then Nolan and I flew back to Edmonton on Monday afternoon... It was a quick trip, but we had an absoulutely fantastic time.

Oh I almost forgot... Nolan had his first haircut... 1" gone. We didn't get a picture of it, but it went really well. The only shocking thing was the Price! They charged us 13 dollars!!! it was more than 1$ per minute!

Our next adventure will be Mexico in April... And the countdown is already on!

The bug lives here

Nolan with the flu bug

First and foremost, I appologize for neglecting our blog this past month. We have had a busy month, more so than usual. I had picked up several shifts at the hospital and even then, staffing was constantly calling me for more shifts. The nursing shortage is in full swing.

Nolan was hit hard with the stomach flu. He was sick for 10 days. We spent a few hours one night in the emergency, fortunately we didn't have to stay overnight. Pedialyte became Nolan's only source of diet. It was scary to see how much weight he lost and so fast. He weighed in at just under 16 pounds- He lost almost 3 pounds. Fortuanetly, the weight didn't stay off for long, within a week... Nolan was back to his pudgy self. It was not a week later, when I got the flu, then Keith and now... Nolan is suffering with a sinus cold. Geeze, with Nolan now in the dayhome, it seems as he is always coming around with some sort of bug.

We have just come out of the deep freeze. Alberta has been below seasonal temperatures, and we have experienced severely cold winds. Last week it was -52 with the windchill... our poor subaru didn't fare so well (and died in the parkade). Fortunately, this week we've actaully hit -10 and were hit last night with a blizzard. I am ready for spring, however, I think we're in for at least 2 more months of winter :(

Here are a few pictures of Nolan...
