Dent this dent that

Nolan's first Jolly Jumper

IT was a fabulous sun shinny day in Edmonton. Nolan was obviously feeling better, the birds were singing and it was a great day for a river valley walk. Zak Francis was outside enjoying his run, Nolan was babbling away... We had a very relaxing stroll in the warm weather... I got back to the car, only to find a huge dent in the side of my car... A BLOODY HIT AND RUN... I was so extremely upset, as the repair will be at least 2000 dollars to fix. Fortunately we have good coverage with our insurance company and tomorrow morning instead of our usual morning walk, I will be at the police office filling a "hit and run".

On the flip side... We bought a Jolly Jumper for Nolan, and it was fun. Nolan was full of smiles and laughter as he bounced around in his new toy. It will definitely be a useful item.

My Shadow

Today was a good day. Nolan slept well all night and we woke up to his usual chatter. Thank Goodness! A few story books and a bit of chit chat, then Nolan was back to sleep for the remainder of the morning right into the early afternoon. Sir Zak, Nolan and I headed down to the river valley for a nice walk in the sunshine. Zak had fun sniffing at every sign, garbage can and blade of grass. Nolan hung out in his stroller watching people as we past them.

We stopped on the grass for a few minutes, Nolan was happy to sit on his blanket and pick up and scratch at the grass. He caught a glimpse of his shadow and was mesmerized with his image. He would sway to each side watching as the image swayed, then he would sit down and watch the image shrink- stand up and watch the image grow. It was quite cute; however, he got frustrated quickly with his inability to grab at it.. that was that, back into the stroller.. then back to the car... and back to sleep.

No fun at all

Keith and I spent the majority of yesterday at the Stollery Children's Hospital with Nolan. Unfortunately Nolan's cold turned into a flu accompanied by fevers and chills. I woke up to Nolan's body cold and clammy with a low body temperature. After a few hours I was successful to warm his little body up. A quick call to the pediatrician's office, a worrisome drive to the hospital, assessments, tests and a lengthy stay we were finally able to go home with Nolan. It appears as Nolan has some kind of virus, since his tests have all come back negative. Fortunately, he was still able to give some smiles for the doctors and nurses- And that was a good sign. For the next few days we will continue to watch closely over Nolan for any immediate signs of sickness. As for now, we are so very happy all is well.

Grammy and Nolan

What fun it was to spend one full week in Kamloops with Grammy and Grampy Price. Keith spent a few days working up in Prince George then made it down to Kelowna to play several rounds of golf with some friends. It was a fun trip; we went on a few very nice walks in and around Kamloops. Keith and I met with a realtor and viewed a house that we saw on mls, unfortunately we hated the house.

Nolan enjoyed some of Gramma's organic apple sauce made from scratch. We also introduced squash which Nolan was pleased to eat each night... Maybe he'll like veggies as much as his mom does.

Unfortunately, I caught a bad cold... then gave it to Nolan, then he gave it to gramma... boo hoo. Despite having a cold, and having the weather go from really warm to not so warm, we had a wonderful trip in Kamloops. I wasn't ready to head back to Edmonton, but now I feel good to be home.

More Yams Please

We are on day 2 of the yams, and they have been a real hit. In fact, this morning Nolan past up his pablum for some more tasty yams. I think the pablum is now on the back burner. Tomorrow we will try oatmeal cereal instead.

We heard back from the Vet yesterday and Zak Francis has a slightly elevated enzyme in his pancreas, which means, his pancreas is slightly inflamed. We have Zak on a chicken soup kind of dog food for the next several days until his pancreas calms down. He seems to be in much better spirits today. He will be in better spirits when we head out for our morning walk in the river valley.

Nolan has just woke up from his morning nap... time to get dressed and head out to enjoy this beautiful sunshine.

Say your prayers

Sir Zak Francis is feeling under the weather. The past two days have been rough on Zak's stomach... and our carpet. A quick trip to the vet this afternoon, lead to an invasive assessment and some dreadful blood work. Zak did very well considering the poking and probing. We will now have Zak on a restricted diet over the next few days. He will have nothing to eat or drink for the next 24 hours, then we will introduce chicken broth, then a few teaspoons of special dog food and after a few days of no vommiting we can continue with our regular feeding routine. Poor little guy.

I should hear back tomorrow with the results of the blood test, our fingers are crossed and we will be saying a prayer for Zak tonight wishing him good health. Thank goodness for vetinsurance... you never know when you are going to need it!

As for Nolan, he is doing very well. I took him in to see the pediatrician, he has gained 1 pound over the past few weeks (and now is a whopping 13 pounds 5 ounces); his growth has slowed down slightly, but is of no concern.

We will be introducing yams tonight for the very first time. Nolan will now have his cereal both in the morning and at night with veggies in the afternoon. I am very excited, as I will be making all of his baby food.

That's all from the Price/Pearce family, Please say a little prayer for our dear Zak Francis.

Happy Easter Weekend

What an eventful weekend! On Friday Auntie Sarah and I went to see Tammy's newest arrival Paige Mary Elizabeth Riel; she was born on Friday morning to a very proud momma and papa. Absolutely a beautiful little girl, congratulations Tammy and Curtis.

On Saturday both Keith and I went out to Gramma and Grampa Pearce's house for breakfast, then went to work on the house for a few hours. Keith continued to work on putting up the baseboards, window trims and I focused on dusting... And there was a lot of dust, sawdust and dirt to sweep up. Gramma found that Nolan had made strange with her and was not cooperating at all; there were too many tears and not enough smiles. The bottle was an absolute "NO" and only mommy would be able to bring back the smiles and good humor...

Saturday evening was full of smiles, good humor and good food. Auntie Karen and Uncle Kelsey held Easter dinner. Ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, veggies, Vi's famous and best tasting cabbage rolls, apple pie and whipping cream made for a very tasty dinner. I was able to take a few good pictures of the kids. The Easter bunny came with a few goodies, Nolan loved playing with his blue bunny- A big hit!

Keith, Nolan and I headed out for breakfast at the Urban Diner- Our favorite joint in town. The portabella egg's benny, breakfast potatoes and cafe negro made my morning... Ahhh a great cup of coffee in the morning- How can you go wrong. We then headed off to church to celebrate the day of resurrection. Nolan was surprisingly well behaved and joined in singing a few hymns. After church both Nolan and Keith were feeling a little sleepy, Nolan drifted off to sleep, while Keith and I enjoyed a latte from second cup. The day is still young... we now look forward to packing as we are planning on moving into our new home the first weekend in May.

Still Snowing...

It's April 5th and I think the snow has finally let up. When I went to the gym this morning all the roads and sidewalks were covered in snow :~( Nolan and I went out for a walk this morning, but had to shorten it for freezing reasons. Nolan's nose was very red, my fingers where stiff and cold and the wind was just a bit too breezy for us to be out walking without a down filled jacket and winter boots. According to global news we will be reaching double digits by this weekend; however, Good Friday will be another cold one.

Keith set up Uncle Steve's Christmas gift for Nolan this morning and how exciting! Lots of new noises and blinking lights, I am not too sure which direction he wanted to look in first. This will hopefully keep Nolan occupied for awhile; we have retired the jungle gym, however, we did get 5 good months out of that toy.

There's grunts and groans coming from the floor... I guess Nolan's ready for some rice cereal, must scoot.

Cabin fever

OOh dear, it's that time of year (for us in colder climates) where cabin fever begins to set in. April may be here but so is the snow, sub zero temperatures and blustery days. We had a spring like tease last week. The sun was out, the snow had almost completely melted, the air was warm enough to not wear a jacket... BUT then out of the blue, came inches of snow, chilly temperatures and blowing snow...

Whhhaaa :(

Winter in April

April fools... I WISH!!

Geeeze... What is with this crazy weather... Good Lord, make it stop. Beam me back to Kamloops Scottie... Beam me back... or rather, "there's no place like Kamloops, there's no place like Kamloops"

It was - 15 today with the windchill, snowing and blowing... We were confined to the condo today. Oopsie, I packed all of our big winter coats, hats and mits (they're sitting out in our storage... I guess spring hasn't sprung yet)

Surprise Trip

Keith, Nolan and I headed off to Kamloops to surprise my parents for the weekend. It was a very quick trip, although we had a lot of fun and were able to soak up some warm rays on Saturday. It was wonderful to see both my mum and dad, and it was nice for them to spend some time with Nolan. Keith and my dad headed out for some QT on Saturday with a much needed game of golf... and for the record, dad beat Keith by 2 strokes... Looks like Keith could use some practice. Unfortunately Edmonton's golf courses will not be open for at least a couple of months if not longer :(

My mom and I went for a nice run on Saturday morning, it was nice to hang out with her again. I miss our visits and really cherish the ones we have because they are few and far between. I am very hopefull that we will be back living in Kamloops within the next couple of years. Edmonton has been very good to me these past four years. I have met several good friends, I have a very good job and most importantly I have met Keith and we now have a beautiful family together. I now want to move our family closer to the mountains so we can enjoy our weekends together skiing, snowboarding, hiking, camping and boating; and the weather of course is always nicer in BC's interior!
