Grow'in older, one step at a time...

On Wednesday September 26th, Nolan took his first step without hanging on to something. It was very breif (no more than two seconds) but Nolan went from the leg of the kitchen table to mommy's knee... Exactly one step. We have since been practicing 1...2...3... stand... and so on. Practice makes perfect- right?

New kicks means a size three!

Nolan's new kicks

Five ounces bigger, a quarter of an inch longer and a slightly larger head, Nolan has finally grown into a size three shoe. Thanks to Tina and Darren, Nolan can now fit into his new white kicks. He's a pretty styling kid... what can I say.

We had somewhat of a busy week, with dinner parties, a game night, the farmer's market (in the pouring rain); two pies- apple and berry and a five hour day making borscht- pheef... I was ready to put my feet up and my head down. The weather wasn't all that stellar- it poured rain on Saturday, and it was bloody cold and windy on Sunday. We stayed indoors most of the weekend. I am hopeful for warmer weather- or at best sunny weather for next weekend.

My in laws were generous enough to donate their old couch and recliner chair to us; after all, it's much nicer than our old furniture- 2 plastic chairs and a box. Hmmm, what would do without them?

Sand... Slides... and puppy dog tails.

What a magnificent warm fall day... The Sun was beaming, not a cloud in the sky... Nolan, Maysen, Karen (Zak) and I went to the kiddie park for a few slides and to run our fingers through the sand. Nolan was mesmerized with the yellow slide... and how fun... Weeeeeeee.... 1, 2, 3.... Weeeeeee. Not a whimper or a tear in sight... this boy is ready for the big blue slide- maybe in a few weeks...

I was able to capture Nolan with Keith's tooth brush this morning... He was actually brushing his teeth... Yummmmy mint tooth paste... more please mommy!

It's important to brush your teeth!

Buurr... it's a cold one...

It was a frosty minus five this morning as Zak, Nolan and I headed out for a stroll in the sunshine. Nolan wore his new winter jacket... although a little big for him now (I wasn't anticipating he would be wearing it in September... rather November or better yet December). Like I said in my previous post- we do live in Alberta and it wouldn't be unusual for it to be -20 one day and +12 the next. Hmmm, I long for warmer and more regular temperatures...

Okay, bring me back to reality... It is still chilly this morning, but we do expect for warmer temperatures this afternoon and into the weekend. Keith will be back tomorrow, and we plan on going to the Farmer's market on Saturday and go for a nice walk along the river valley- we may even get a chance for a round of golf on Sunday- babysitters permitting... Oh Grammy where are you!! You should move to Edmonton!

Who am I ?

I am cold, fluffy and white...
I can stick to the ground or not
I usually come in winter, although I can
come at any time...
Especially when you live in Alberta...

Who Am I ?

That's right folks you guessed it... SNOW... I saw the first few flakes today. No it did not stick; but it was present in the sky. It was a whopping 2 degrees this fine September 12th morning with a windchill factor of (Freezing). Nolan was in a sweater along with a winter jacket and blanket, and I was the fool who only wore a holey sweater.. Buurrrr. cha cha chilly.

Here is a picture of Nolan this morning walking with his walker... HE was on the go (again).

I want that camera...

Here comes Nolan

Getting into... Everything

If it's not the cupboards, then it's the fridge door... If it's not the fridge door then it's Zak's dog food... and so on... The list could go on forever...

but... We sure do love him and are having lots of fun with our little man. Each day he changes so much... his vocabulary is expanding... his legs are more steady when he stands up. He is using his walker more- and is able to walk slowly with out any face plants.

He is sleeping through the night... and still has his naps during the day (which gives me time to do the housework and still have a little time for scrapbooking). He is eating more... almost 20 ounces of solid food a day... but no... he is not 40 pounds- If my diet was as abundant as his... I would be obese!

Here are a few pictures from this weekend...
Hugs and kisses, Nolan

Hmm, it's fall

Hmmm, I love fall... the crisp mornings, the chilly nights... good sleeps, A hot cup of earl grey tea... chowders... stews and soups; Walks in the warm afternoon sun. I sure do love the fall... After all, it's Nolan's first Fall...

This morning I spotted Nolan's first curl- just behind his right ear. I tried to capture the curl; however, the wiggly worm was too wiggly. He was using his walker- and getting into everything. His newest thing is opening and closing doors, He sometimes gets his fingers caught in the door... but mostly it's open... close... open ... close. It must be a very entertaining game for a little tyke.

We saw DR. K yesterday afternoon. Nolan has gained some weight- Pheef! He's still a bit of a corkscrew at 15 pounds, but nonetheless he's growing and maintaining his 3rd percentile curve. He remains as active as they come... and was already giving hugs and kisses to his doctor.

Hugs and kisses to all... I am sure that's his motto.

I'll leave you with a few photos of this morning... Toot a loo... and as Nolan would do... Hugs and kisses to you all.

It was Golden...

Uncle Steve and Nolan

We spent our September long weekend in Beautiful British Columbia... Golden, was gorgeous as usuall. We had nice weather accompanied with good humor. My parents and brother were down for Rebecca's wedding. She looked beautiful of course... What bride isn't spectacular on her wedding day?

Nolan is crawling up a storm... we bought him a walker last week, and he has started to walk with it... Although, the walker gets a little ahead of him... Superman, then cur-splat (we have a face plant).

The whipping cream diet has been a suscsess- Nolan gained half a pound this last week and weighs in at a whopping 15 pounds 1 ounce. We're following a nice curve within the 3rd percentile. All is well, and we'll continue to add the whipping cream for a while longer.
